In an earlier post, I reached out and asked if anyone had any publishing and illustration related questions for me. Raj Kaur asked, “What are the challenges you are experiencing as you build your illustration portfolio? Do you have a clear idea of what sort of work you want to focus on? I'm always interested to understand how we figure out a game plan for our personal work.”
Like most illustrators, when I was getting started I included art in my portfolio as I created it. I wondered why I was not getting work. I was not taking my own advise I give as an Art Director. When reviewing portfolios, here is my tips and how I have revised and updated my own portfolio.
*Please take everything with a grain of salt. use what works for you and throw out what doesn’t it’s just one persons opinion.
